Your employees' health plan premiums can be paid in two ways:

You pay the insurance company.

If the plan costs more than your monthly amount, the extra comes out of the employee's paycheck.

OPTION B

The employee pays the insurance company.

You pay them back through payroll, up to your monthly amount.

Frequently asked questions

I've never heard of this. How is it different from a group plan?

A group plan is one health plan everyone uses. You pick it. The insurance company raises the price every year. BenefitX is different. You decide the dollar amount per employee per month. Each employee picks their own plan. A licensed advisor helps them. You make one monthly payment. We handle the paperwork with the IRS and other agencies. No yearly price hike. No minimum sign-up rule.

What does "free to sign up" actually mean?

You can set up your account and build your plan for free. We ask for a payment method when you sign up, but we don't charge you until you add your first employee. After that, it's $45 per enrolled employee each month, starting on your next billing date.

What if I sign up but don't add employees?

Your account stays free. If you have no employees after 90 days, we send a reminder. After 180 days, we pause the account. You can turn it back on any time by adding an employee.

Do I have to pay for employees who opt out?

No. You don't pay for anyone who opts out. Just note: the employee has to log in and opt out themselves for the charge to drop off.

Are credit cards accepted?

Yes. We suggest ACH (bank transfer) because the fees are lower, and it's the default. Credit cards work too if you prefer.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There's no yearly contract. Cancel from your portal, and your plan ends when the current billing month is up.

How do employees pick plans?

Each employee gets their own page at your-company.benefitx.com. They can shop health, dental, vision, and Medicare plans for their ZIP code, or get one-on-one help from your assigned licensed advisor.

What if I have 50 or more employees?

The Standard plan fits groups of up to 49 employees. At 50 or more, you become an Applicable Large Employer (ALE) under the ACA, which adds reporting. Book a call on our Enterprise tier and we'll set up what your group needs.
